![]() What are strappy leaf plants? Strappy leafed plants are often thought of as grasses but are not in the true botanical sense of the word. Strappy leaf plants include; Lomandra & Dianella varieties. These strappy leafed plants varieties have become favourites of landscape designers in recent years for one very sound reason; they maintain their ornamental appearance under drought conditions better than many other plants.
Lomandra longifolia LM300 (PBR)
Strappy Leaf Plants planted in combination with grasses form fantastic foliage contrasts. A good planting combination is to use 75% Strappy Leaf Plants to 25% Grass. This ratio has worked well on many projects.
Mixed planting of Dianella 'Little Jess' & Pennisetum 'Nafray'. This picture taken in winter shows the straw coloured foliage of the 'Nafray' to the left of frame. Follow the links above to strappy leaf plant profiles.
