Commencement of the Oxley Highway Duplication Project

The Oxley Highway Upgrade

The Oxley Highway Upgrade is an RTA funded, 6 kilometre upgrade between Wrights Road and the Pacific Highway at Port Macquarie. The construction began in 2009 and is due to be completed by the end of 2011. The total project cost is $158 million.

Bluedale is proud to be the supplier of plants for this project - we are working with a local landscaper who specialises in commercial projects. The plant supply includes tube stock of grasses, trees, shrubs and wetland plants; along with 140mm and 200mm (6 & 8 inch) pots of native grasses, trees and shrubs.

May - June saw the beginning of the landscaping works with the first sections to be planted at the Wrights Road round-a-bout. The garden beds behind the sound walls have been planted with indigenous tree and shrub species. In front of the sound walls there is mass planting of Imperata and Lomandra longifolia in alternating bands. The median between the carriage ways have been planted with alternating bands of Lomandra longifolia and Lomandra ‘Katrinus’. To see pictures of this project visit the Bluedale gallery.

Bluedale has been involved in a number of similar projects over the past years and in coming newsletters we will profile some of these projects for you.

A thought to keep in mind.

Plant supply projects of this type require planning, it is important to order your plants at the earliest possible time. This will give enough lead time to collect provenance seed, if needed, and lead time to grow the plants to meet RTA specifications.
