Dianella caerulea 'DBB03'

Dimensions: 500mm tall x 500mm wide. Cassa Blue is a caneless, clumping form of Dianella with bluish architectural foliage that is stunning all year round. Cassa Blue doesn't spread like traditional Dianella caerulea, but rather forms singular clumps, perfect for specimen plantings and borders.

Flowers: Spring & Summer with prolific baby blue flowers that sit high (up to 400mm) above the foliage. Cassa Blue flowers for long periods, sometimes many months, then is followed by purplish berries.

Aspect: Full sun to 50% partial shade. It is suited to coastal aspects but protection from strong winds is advisable. It has a high cold & frost tolerance to a low of -10c.

Soil Types: Sand and sandy loam, very free draining clay loam.

Mulch Type: Has problems with organic mulch. Gravel mulch is ideal as it keeps the crown of the plants dry. In humid coastal areas over watering and thick organic mulch may cause root rot.

Maintenance: Remove older foliage every 2 to 3 years to make room for new foliage from the basal clump. Fertilize with slow release annually. Be careful when re-mulching and do not over water.

Available Sizes: 140mm Pots only.

Planting Rates:

Mass Planting: Pots 3 to 5/m2

Specimen Planting: Pots 1 to 3/m2
