Lomandra longifolia ‘Katrinus Deluxe’ is a select cultivar of the common variety of Lomandra 'Katrinus'. It has a finer leaf and large male flowers. Katrinus Deluxe is ideal for compact gardens or for garden designs where you want absolute uniformity and a higher level of refinement.

Flowers and Fruit

Spring & Summer with large sprays of male flowers that are held high among foliage. Produces no seed.

Aspect

Katrinus Deluxe grows in full sun and 50% shade. It is suited to protected coastal aspects. It grows well in inland climates where it will handle cold to –10ºC with medium level frost. Katrinus traditionally performs well in heavy soils. Care should be given not to over water in humid coastal areas with heavy soils.

Soil Type

Sandy loam, clay loams and heavier clay soil types.

Maintenance

Trim back foliage to 300mm above the ground every 5 years or so if needed, to remove old growth. Fertilize with slow release fertilizer after trimming to encourage fresh re-growth.

Mulch Type

Use a well processed mulch such as wood chip or non-organic gravel mulch. Avoid mulching hard up against the base of the plant.
