Wingarra has arching, fine blue, grass like foliage that resembles the popular blue Poa grass. Wingarra is a tough hardy plant which is ideal for dry land plantings in non-irrigated gardens. It also makes a great border or edging plant.

Flowers and Fruit

Flowers: Spring & Summer with masses of small yellow, beautifully perfumed flowers that spread a sweet scent through the landscape early morning and late afternoon.

Aspect

Wingarra will grow in complete full sun and up to 70% shade. Good for seaside aspects & coastal humidity, provided it has good air circulation and good drainage. It grows well inland where it can handle heat & cold to –10ºC and medium level frost.

Soil Type

Sandy loam and free draining clay loams.

Maintenance

Trim back foliage to 200mm above the ground every 3 to 5 years, if needed. Fertilize with slow release fertilizer after trimming to encourage fresh re-growth. Be careful when re-mulching and don’t over water.

Mulch Type

Best suited to coarse grade hardwood chips and gravel mulches. Don’t mulch hard up against the base of the foliage or in humid weather conditions.
