Lomandra longifolia 'LM300'

Dimensions: 500 - 700mm* tall x 500 - 600mm wide. (* in maintained gardens with rich volcanic soils it may grow to 700mm in height.) Tanika is one of those beautiful plants that look at home in any application, from roadsides to commercial landscapes, public gardens and high end residential gardens.

Flowers: Spring & Summer with small non spiky yellow flowers. It does not produce seed.

Aspect: Tanika will grow in full sun and in up to 50% shade. It is also suited to coastal conditions, although protection from fully exposed seaside aspects will benefit its overall appearance. Coastal humidity, coupled with incorrect mulch type and over watering may cause die back if care is not taken, (see notes on mulch Pg 34). Tanika thrives in inland climates and will survive frost, once established, to a temperature of -10c with only very minor leaf tip burn.

Soil Types: Sandy loam to free draining clay loams.

Mulch Type: Tanika will have root rot problems if care is not given to mulch selection. Wood chip and non-organic gravel mulch have proven best. Never mulch hard up against the base of the plant.

Maintenance: Trim foliage to 200mm above the ground to remove old growth every 3 to 5 years or when the plant looks untidy. Use a slow release fertilizer, once a year and after trimming, to encourage fresh re-growth. Care should be taken when re-applying mulch and don't over water.
